Rangoli

I love colours and when I saw a rangoli for the first time I was utterly stunned, it was a delicate lace and it looked like the colours were dancing in a perfect harmony…and it was all hand-made. I was impressed by its beauty, it was so perfectly done…

Rangoli is an Indian traditional decorative art,  which consists in drawing images and motifs on the floor with different colour powders. This floor painting stands as a welcome sign and you can see it usually in front of a house and it is a piece of art.

Each rangoli design generally stays for only a day or two as it is often redone as a part of the daily routine. I saw a lady doing a decoration with Ganesha in the middle of many flowers (unfortunately I didn’t have my camera on). She made it look so easy to do it, it took her about 45 min to do it and it looked stunning.

Such a joy of colours…
